A TALE OF TWO CITIES

I expect that when Coach Spurrier heard of the Clemson loss to Maryland, he had to snicker or at least give one of his trademark smirky smiles. Although the OBC has never made any remarks or jabs at Clemson directly, he has on several occasions made light of the seemingly endless turmoil that seems to follow the Tigers. Just the same, he isn't one to ignore the fact that Clemson has been very successful against the Gamecocks for a long long time.

Which brings us to today. With Carolina sitting at number 25 in the AP, and Clemson sitting in the corner crying and licking their wounds, it's hard not to wonder if we will see a late season let-down by the Cocks and/or a MIRACULOUS turnaround by Clemson. With one of or the toughest schedules in college football, the Gamecocks have five very winnable games left on their schedule. Only Alabama and Florida are the true powerhouse teams left on the schedule. The Tigers also have an uphill battle now that it would appear that they are likely to lose at least four more of their remaining games. WF, FSU, NCST and SC are potential losses, though don't expect the Tigers to just rollover for any of them. Clemson will be big underdogs,, asMiami looks like a juggernaut headed for heights unknown. The Tigers should take care of VA and Coastal (maybe).

All that we can do is wait and see, but in Columbia there is much optimism and belief that our program is on the way up. Listening to the Clemson fans on the local radio shows today gave me the impression that a revolt is on the horizon.
